Prof. Dr. İlhan Elmacı is one of Turkiye’ s leading neurosurgery specialists. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his specialty training in 1987 at Bakırköy Psychiatric and Neurological Diseases Hospital, He started at Dr. Zeki Oral Clinic and completed his neurosurgery residency in 1993. In this process, University of Zurich “He received important training in microneurosurgery at M. Gazi Yaşargil Clinic.

Between 1993 and 2003, he continued his work as a lecturer and assistant professor at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Necmettin Pamir clinic. During the same period, he gained his clinical and surgical achievements, especially in the fields of Neuro-oncology and Vascular Neurosurgery, at the clinic of Prof. Donlin M. Long and Daniele Rigamonti at Johns Hopkins University in America.

In 2003, he received the title of Associate Professor of Neurosurgery.

He worked as Clinical Chief at the Ministry of Health Göztepe Training and Research Hospital between 2004 and 2010. During this period, ensured that his clinic was accredited by the European Association of Neurosurgery (EANS). During the same period, he completed his endoscopic skull base surgery training at the University of Pittsburgh.

Prof. Elmacı, who joined Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine in 2010, received the title of Professor of Neurosurgery there. He founded the “Medipol University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery” in 2012, and served as the Head of the Neurosurgery Department at “Memorial Health Group Istanbul Hospitals” between 2014 and 2018.

He founded “Elmacı Neurosurgery Clinic” in 2021 for the purpose of research, education and patient interviews. He performed the surgical patient services of this clinic at “Liv Hospital Ulus” between 2021-2023. As of November 2023, it continues to work with its experienced team within the scope of “Istanbul Florence Nightingale” as an affiliate hospital.

He is the founder of the “Kafa Tabanı Association” and served as its president between 2016-2021. He is also a member of the executive committee of the European Skull Base Society (ESBS). When we look at his scientific contributions, he has more than 130 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals and more than 30 scientific articles in national peer-reviewed journals. He has also made significant contributions to the field of neurosurgery with more than 200 reports, books and book chapters at home and abroad.
